What's New in ZIP'R For DOS Version 3.2
──> Update Option Added
Added option that allows users to "update" the old compressed file
during the recompression process, rather than create a completely new
compressed file. This DRAMATICALLY increases the speed of the
recompression process. See the "Advanced Compression Options" section
of the file ZIPR.DOC.
──> Query Option Added
Added option that allows users to force ZIP'R to ask whether or not a
program should be compressed before the compression process actually
begins. This gives the user more control over the recompression
process, allowing them to decide "on-the-fly" if a program should be
compressed.
──> Added Support for Larger Cluster Sizes
The "Cluster Size" field in the ZIF Editor has been increased to allow
ZIP'R users to utilize larger cluster sizes. New available cluster
sizes are 16384 and 32768. This will allow the Accurate File Size
Calculation routine to be used on drives up to 2 Gigabytes.
──> Changed Name from ZIP'R to ZIP'R For DOS
To avoid potential confusion over future versions of ZIP'R, the name
has been changed to ZIP'R For DOS.
What's New in ZIP'R Version 3.1
──> AccurateFileSizeCalculation Speed Increase
Increased speed of calculating the accurate file size before beginning
the extraction process. New speed is approximately twice as fast as
before.
──> Time Stamp Now Indicates Version Number
ZIP'R users can now tell what version of ZIP'R they are using by
viewing the time stamp on the ZIP'R related files. The files
associated with ZIP'R Version 3.1 should have a time stamp of 03:10.
──> Retail Shareware Versions
STSI now has retail shareware copies of ZIP'R available for purchase
and resale by dealers. Interested dealers should read the file
VENDOR.DOC.
What's New in ZIP'R Version 3.0
──> ZIF Editor Version 1.0
ZIP'R users may now create ZIP'R Information Files (.ZIF Files) with
the new ZIF Editor. These .ZIF files contain the settings necessary
to execute specific programs through ZIP'R, and can be called directly
from the ZIP'R command line by typing "ZIPR PROGRAM.ZIF"
The ZIF Editor may also be used to edit .IN and .OUT files, as well as
the ZIP'R program defaults, which are normally stored in the ZIPR.INI
file.
──> Now Register with Visa/Mastercard, American Express or Discover!
Users may now register ZIP'R via telephone, FAX, or The Bertha BBS
using a Visa/MC, American Express, or Discover credit card. Users
registering via telephone can receive a temporary registration number
that can be used to immediately register their copy of ZIP'R. (Please
see REGISTER.DOC for new pricing/packaging information.)
──> Compressed .EXE files to 1/5 of their original sizes.
The files ZIPR.EXE, ZIPRN.EXE, and ZIFEDIT.EXE have been compressed to
only consume 1/5 the space of their original size.
On my test systems, the ZIP'R files load faster using the new
compressed format.
